Howard's Chowder Shack - Step by Step Mural

This project took two days and included three 4x8 panels of rough plywood, which helped with the "shack" look of the place.  I painted the whole thing freehand, which is unusual for me since I like to transfer my designs onto the mural for accuracy. Due to the casualness of the place, being a little off actually fit better.  Can't wait for them to open this weekend - chowders, clam cakes, hot wieners, fish & chips, pastas, lobster rolls and salads, Del's and ice cream.  My son Kyle will be working there too, so make sure you say hi.  Howard's Chowder Shack, Rt 101 in North Scituate, RI.

An Adventure in Daily Painting

Today's Project...

Plein air painting at Celebrations Gallery in Pomfret, CT.

Inviting Garden - 5x7 Acrylic on Board

As I drove into the driveway of the gallery, the clouds gave way to sun and the magnificent gardens put on quite a show.  An inspired day!  The first painting already has a new home, and the geraniums proved to be quite challenging as the changes in sunlight changed the colors of the leaves so dramatically.  I am quite exhausted but happy.  Wishing you a beautiful rest of the weekend.

Faux Brick Project

Today's Project...

It was a lovely to be outside completing this one day project at Wayland Manor, near Wayland Square in Providence.  The front entrance had a white PVC pipe that needed to blend with the brick and granite facade.  After extensive research on what paints would stick and how the paints would handle New England weather, I sprayed, sponged, dabbed, flicked and sponged some more. Tomorrow I get to finish the pipe at the side entrance.  My reward will be to get back in the studio by the end of the week and actually paint
at an easel!  I can't wait!!!

An Adventure in Daily Painting

Today's Project...

Cupcake!

Today was the last class of the spring session by Kelley MacDonald at the Providence Art Club.  It feels like I haven't done a "daily painting" in over a month, however I have been awful busy painting... glazed kitchen cabinets, puzzle art, sample boards and new project sketches.  Today it took several tries before I got my rhythm back, and now the pressure is back on to PRODUCE!
More to come later this week.

And yes, the cupcake tasted really good!
