A familiar friend from my backyard...
This is the last little picture I could complete for the Providence Art Club's Little Picture Show. The show runs until December 23rd. Gallery Hours
Welcome to a place to see what's on my easel, the walls I am decorating and the illustration projects that are on my drawing table. It's like hanging out in my studio without getting paint on you. Thank you for stopping by and please come again!

Lusterstone Walls in Eggplant
This two day project was completed during "Sandy" at Moss Salon on North Main Street in Providence. Lusterstone is a mica embedded resin that is applied with a trowel or blade. It reflects light well and creates great depth of color. It is also very durable and easy to repair if needed. The area behind the concrete balusters was challenging but the impact with the aged gray of the concrete was worth the extra effort.

The BLU Restaurant Project
With fall upon us, I thought it best to get back to my routine of blog posting my latest work. It was a very productive summer, with plenty of variety to my workload. The largest project was the new BLU Restaurant at 20 Water Street in East Greenwich. The dining room is now open, so you can go and see my work up close!
Restaurant design rendering under the direction of Skovron Interior Design. This was my first rendering in a very long time, which had a heck of a learning curve for me. Thank goodness my husband paid attention in drafting class, and he is a really good teacher! (Angles in this image are distorted due to my camera.)
The three piece abstract on aluminum for the dining room was great fun to do.
The collaboration with Lucid Glass & Skovron Interior Design to create a Miami style bar was exciting. Each section of acrylic was hand painted and arranged by me, then assembled and installed by the artisans at Lucid Glass Studio.
And finally, the original tavern sign was refurbished.

Pumpkin Guitar Body
Hand painted guitar bodies are some of the more enjoyable projects I get to experience. Highly personal, this client is building the guitar for his girlfriend, nicknamed "Pumpkin" (awww.) Her initial was created on the back with a curly vine and the leaf on the front was positioned to "Rock On!"

Faux Bois Master Suite
Faux Bois is the artistic imitation of wood and woodgrain. In this master suite, the new construction was made with several different woods, including oak, poplar and pre-primed windows. The clients had purchased distressed and gold leaf embellished furniture which I was requested to match. All doors, windows, molding, grates, coffers and cabinetry was finished with a 5 step treatment which included applying gold leaf and antiquing it. The project took about 3.5 weeks to complete. A very labor intensive project, but the results were stunning.

Giving Jesus a Hand
A perfect Mother's Day project...
These are the before and after pictures of the Madonna Della Difesa statue that has been handed down in my family since the early 20th century. My mother recently inherited it and asked a couple of months back if I could try to fix it. With Mother's Day approaching I thought it was the right time to undertake the tricky prosthetic for the baby Jesus. Crafted from "Sculpey" and then baked, it took two tries to get it right. The Madonna received a deep cleaning facial, manicure, a little bling with new gold leaf and refurbishing of her crackled paint gown. A pretty appropriate Mother's Day gift for her! I think I made my own mom very happy yesterday, as the hug seemed to last forever.

Little Spring Projects
With a bit of spring fever, I personalized a mailbox and made a child's monogram wall hanging. Bright and pleasant, like the warm & sunny days ahead!

Just in time for Mother's Day
I just received copies of my Koi Pond Garden and Tropical Bird puzzles from Masterpieces Puzzle Company. They are really well made and make the perfect mother's day gift or summertime activity with your family. They are sold as a four pack with two puzzles from another artist, which are just as colorful. I am attaching a link to Masterpieces' online store. Happy Spring!!!

Celtic Swags
A nice way to finish the month...
Designed to fill the space over a flat screen television, with a coordinating swag for over the sliding door, colors from the room were incorporated, as well as the client's monogram. This project was completed in one day.

Barrington Bookstore Toy Section Mural
Finally complete!
For the new expansion of their toy section, Barrington Books needed "wow" factor for the space. Given only the direction of a twilight scene that engaged kids 8-15, I created "islands" of colorful images, with a leaning towards nature, science and adventure.
Here are the stats: one full day of design, eight days of on-site mural painting, a day and a half to create the compass table and another day to paint and install the clouds and archway.
Barrington Books will be having a grand opening celebration on Saturday, March 24th, from 11:30-3:30 with live entertainment, book signings and storytelling. Check out their website for more details, including a Lego contest!
