A Painted Fireplace Screen

This project is actually from before the holidays.  A friend had asked me to re-purpose an old fireplace screen to match her new decor.  Simple but striking.  The screen was strie glazed in a pearl finish and then the coral branch was painted in off white and beige to match toss pillows of the same design.

The Mermaid Portrait Project

For a client who LOVES mermaids, has two beautiful daughters, a lovely niece and an adorable new granddaughter.  The new construction bathroom was decorated with half size portraits of her loved ones as mermaids.  The mermaids were embellished with opalescent scales, glittering tails & fins and crystal "bling."  The project took 7 days to complete and included a replication of a folk art mural the client had in a previous home and two house portraits illustrating the before and after of the beachfront home in Warwick, RI.

My painting won a national award!!!

3rd place in the 2011 Turner Gouache Fall Painting Contest.  Sponsored by Jerry's Artarama, the work needed to be done in gouache, which is a water base, flat finish paint that has excellent reproduction qualities.  The painting is called "Koi Pond Garden" and it was an illustration created for Masterpieces Puzzle Company for release this later this year.

Happy New Year!

Today's Project...

Is to attempt my first blog post.  This is a test and only a test.  If this were a real blog post, it would show new work and not a random file of my past work (a jigsaw puzzle design.)

Please subscribe to this blog via email or RSS feed and become a Follower (the buttons on the left side of this page) in order to see all of my new work in 2012.  Thanks!
